THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

Featuring as the centerpiece of the Fatima apparitions and the Five First Saturday Devotions is the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Our Lady of Fatima revealed that God wanted to establish in the world the devotion to Her Immaculate Heart in order to save souls from eternal damnation. It was at Fatima also where our loving Heavenly Mother assured us that Her Heart would be a sure refuge and THE WAY that leads us to God Himself.

What consolation and reassurance for wretched sinners like us in this chaotic world of sin and despair! Divine Providence wills that Mary’s Immaculate Heart be the quickest and surest means of salvation for us miserable children of Adam. Since that is the case, what does devotion to Mary’s Immaculate Heart entail? What role does the Immaculate Heart of Mary play in mankind’s salvation in our times? What are Heaven’s promises to faithful who sincerely and tirelessly propagate this devotion?

This booklet complements the other booklet on “Devotion of the Five First Saturdays” by succinctly elaborating on the role of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the salvation of all mankind. Devotion to the Immaculate Heart should not simply be a sentimental private act of piety but instead should be a universal practice. Heaven’s call for the spread and the universalization of this devotion is best exemplified in Our Lady of Fatima’s repeated pleas for the public and solemn consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart by the Holy Father for world peace and a return of mankind to God.

Sadly, this consecration has yet to be accomplished even until the present day. The wars, sufferings and atrocities during the past couple of decades are merely the disastrous consequences of not heeding Our Lady’s requests at the beginning of the 20th century. On the other hand, Our Lady Herself promised that souls who embrace the devotion to Her Immaculate Heart will be granted graces to attain salvation and will be like flowers adorning the throne of God in Heaven.

Some may be wondering about the significance of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in our Catholic Faith. Nonetheless, this booklet explains the intertwined connections between the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Without Mary’s Heart, we would not find the Heart of Jesus. Conversely, it is only through Mary’s Immaculate Heart that we better understand and love the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In face of such realities before us, we, the unfortunate offspring of Adam, are prompted to reflect on our foolishness in not obeying the Mother of God by embracing and spreading knowledge and love for Her Immaculate Heart as much as we should. That being said, we should never despair because we know the eventual outcome of the battle between the Immaculate Conception and the devil – that Mary’s Immaculate Heart will triumph.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary

Why the heart? Not only the tepid souls struggle to find meaning in this Devotion.  The most ardent of supporters of Marian Devotions have blindly perpetrated a lacklustre commitment to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

"The Immaculate Heart of Mary" is a booklet which aims at keeping alive many of the promises made by the Immaculate Heart; namely "Don't lose heart.  I will never forsake you. My Immaculate heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God." On June 13, 1917, Our Lady said at Fatima, "Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world the devotion to my Immaculate Heart."

Why the heart?

Fr Karl Stehlin explains: "The symbol of the heart, which is the very depth of our being, is the seat of all that is precious in us - the source of our love.  We open our heart only to our intimate friends. Our Lady shows us Her heart and allows us to have a look into the deepest mysteries of Her very being. She introduces us into Her heart which then becomes our dwelling, refuge and way."

Thus, she treats us as Her most beloved ones, worthy to receive such immense love.  "The Immaculate Heart of Mary" uncovers the true revelation of Her heart at Fatima and Her incredible promises to us, not only for the future and eternity, but also for now.
